Celtic ‘well down the line’ with summer striker options
Celtic are looking to sign a striker this summer and are ‘well down the line’ with options, The Daily Record has reported tonight.
Journalist Scott Burns believes Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to his striking department, even though we already have Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis.
And Celtic are apparently treating it as a priority, already making progress on unnamed options in the early stages of this transfer window.
Albian Ajeti remains at the club so his exit could be required before another striker joins, given Celtic’s policy when it comes to wage options and squad personnel.
A third striker will be needed over the coming campaign and Ajeti has not been in Ange Postecoglou’s plans for a long time.
The club have already signed up defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and goalkeeper Ben Siegrist this summer, with winger Jota and left-back Alexandro Bernabei expected to follow this week.
Celtic have also been consistently linked with defensive midfielders over the last few weeks, with Vinicius Souza the most prominent name coming to the fore.
The manager is wasting no time in ensuring he has a competitive squad in place as quickly as possible ahead of the new season, with Celtic flying off to Austria on 4th July.
With over two months before the transfer window closes, I don’t expect Celtic will be scrambling around for last minute options this year.
